Your privacy matters, especially in a mental-health context. This policy explains what Stillwater collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. This page is maintained by the Stillwater team; it is a plain-language summary, not legal advice.

What we collect

  • Journal entries and mood check-ins. In the current version, these are stored only on your device using your browser's local storage. They are not transmitted to our servers.
  • Basic technical logs. Standard web-server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) are kept briefly for security and reliability.
  • Optional contact info. If you email us, we keep that message so we can reply.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to insurers, not to anyone.
  • We do not run behavioral advertising or third-party ad trackers on this site.
  • We do not share the content of your journal entries with anyone. They stay on your device.

HIPAA

Stillwater is not a healthcare provider or a HIPAA-covered entity, and this service is not a medical record. Information you enter here is personal notes, not Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA. If you are receiving care from a HIPAA-covered provider, that provider's own privacy notices govern your medical record — not this policy.

Children

Stillwater is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights (including CA, VA, CO, and other US state laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain kinds of processing. Because journal content is stored locally on your device, you can access and delete it directly from the app at any time.

Cookies

We use only the storage necessary to run the app (for example, remembering your journal entries locally). We do not use advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
